Days before our Singapore trip with AirAsia, we were briefed with things to do in the country. The bloggers were split into 3 pairs, each pair representing an angle distinct from another. The first pair’s media angle was Barkada, which aim was to tackle adventures and activities recommended for people traveling with their friends; the second pair’s itinerary was meant for a Family escapade, which took hold of things to do in Singapore when you travel with your family; and the last pair was on a Romantic media angle, which was equipped with experiences planned for couples.

Melai and I were assigned to the Romantic Escapade Media Angle. An itinerary was prepared by AirAsia, in a collaboration with Singapore Tourism Board. It was more than a privilege to have an all-expense paid tour for our whole stay in Singapore, so we made sure that we visited every place that we can, including those in our prepared itinerary. Of all the tourist spots we saw, I think the 3 best locations that offer maximum romantic moments with your other half are Gardens by the Bay, Singapore Flyer and Sentosa. Find out why on the latter part of this post.

As we landed in SG, we were toured around the Merlion Park, overlooking the famous Marina Bay Sands Hotel, Singapore Flyer and other landmarks.

Our next stop was Gardens by the Bay, which caught me by surprise. I am naturally not a fan of gardens and nature, but when I got the chance to visit this place, I was left in awe. First, because of the cold weather brought by the plants and flowers, and second, because of the beautiful scenery itself- the precious flowers and calming trees.

Gardens by the Bay is actually a new tourist attraction which is perfect for a day date for couples. In fact, as we walked around, we spotted several couples enjoying the place, the latter which showcases garden artistry, housing over a quarter of a million rare plants on a 100-hectare zone.

Also at the Gardens, is Cloud Forest, which features Cloud Mountain (photo above), which displays a waterfall providing visitors with refreshing cool air. It is accessible through elevators or escalators that bring you to ascending levels of view, overlooking different scenes.

This reflective piece at the ceiling is constructed at a floor in the Cloud Mountain. Amazing, isn’t it? 🙂

Our next stop was the Singapore Flyer. As a self-confessed acrophobic, not one person can persuade me to ride a giant wheel or anything that will trigger my fear of heights. I don’t know, but the 30-minute ride at the Flyer was exciting, and not frightening at all. Fun is a surefire hit while on the capsule, because you get to see the whole Singapore and it’s neighboring countries, Malaysia and Indonesia.

Located nearby is the Christmas Village, which showcases different Christmas light-ups and ornaments, perfect for this season. I personally recommend this for a family activity. Bring your kids or sibs and let them see the fun and photo-worthy experience at the Christmas Village!

On our 2nd day, we visited Sentosa Island, tagged as Asia’s Favourite Playground. It is home to an exciting array of themed attractions, award-winning spa retreats, lush rainforests, golden sandy beaches, resort accommodations, world-renowned golf courses, a deep-water yachting marina and luxurious residences.

If you plan to visit Sentosa, I recommend that you allot a whole day to experience everything that you can- from fun rides, scenic views and exciting shows. This place is perfect for everyone: couples, family and barkada.

As for our tour, included in our itinerary was Sentosa Luge and Skyride- which takes you to a fun-filled race down a 650-meter-long paved track and a breathtaking open-air chairlift while enjoying the views of the South China Sea; Images of Singapore; Songs of the Sea (a must-see multimedia show composed of a live cast and astonishing pyrotechnics) and a lot more attractions.

If you are a night person, you’ll surely appreciate what Orchard Road has to offer, especially during the Christmas season. Feast your eyes on a visual entertainment of lights and street performances as you walk along the lively road.

Reasons/Tags on why I chose Gardens by the Bay, Singapore Flyer and Sentosa as my top 3 couple destinations:

Gardens by the Bay- perfect view, cold weather, thrilling Cloud Mountain, place vast enough for strolling around

Singapore Flyer- hint: extraordinary venue for a dinner (or marriage proposal!! <3), it would be best if you ride at night time, so as to get to see the astonishing lights of SG)

Sentosa Island- Not one word needed for explanation, everything’s here!

How do you like my mini virtual tour to Singapore? I hope I gave couples an idea on where and how to spend their day in the country!
