President and CEO Ernest Cu of Globe Telecom and David Wang, President of Huawei
Wireless Product Line, formalize the agreement for the Philippine telco
to use the SingleSON solution on its network, the first in the world to
adopt the technology.

Just recently, during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, Globe Telecom sealed its collaboration with Huawei
for the pioneering SingleSON deployment to make the best out of its
wireless network performance and operations, as well as its maintenance.
This is to effectively manage the progress of the network’s mobile data
services traffic, which is depicted to advance in the next coming
years.

Since Globe is one of the top network providers, its mobile
data traffic growth always encounters a rapid increase. To steer this
explosive data growth, there new network technologies that are adopted,
like the LTE-Advanced that’s partenered with small cells. Moreover, the
development of 5G technologies is being prioritized to further address
huge data requirements.

Huawei will work on its technological
leadership in radio access network research and development to welcome
its innovation, which is the SingleSON solution that aims to make the
network performance even better, plus operations and maintenance
efficiency and quality. This will pave the way for Globe to manage a
more complex and intelligent network.

The solution was proved
successful, as it was tested live on Globe’s 20,000 2G, 3G and 4G cells.
This is by far the largest deployment for Huawei. The performance of
the solution was great enough for achieving great results – like the
sudden improvement on drop call rates and a better sharing of radio
resources between layers and technologies. With these impressive
outcomes, Globe foresees a more successful move for adopting the
SingleSON solution in 2015.
